(POLITICAL SATIRE) (Washington–September 30, 2017) Both GOP House and Senate Leaders had a strong message for President Obama today: stop wasting time and send relief to Puerto Rico.
“We feel it’s absolutely outrageous the slow response he’s shown in this crisis,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said today. “Here he is, just sitting around with his family, like nothing is happening, while the people of Puerto Rico are suffering.”
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan issued a statement, saying in part that he was “mystified at the complete lack of action” on Obama’s part. “Sure, we all like to have fun and relax and go out in public in really cool sun glasses, but not while people are suffering.”
President Trump also weighed in from his golf cart.
“It’s a big, big ocean, with lots of water, but Obama could have visited those people. You would think that he could have taken a boat or something or maybe Tom Price could have given him a ride in his plane. It’s not like they’re American citizens or something, I understand that, but at least show a little class. I mean, the optics are terrible.”
Behind the scenes, rumors are that the GOP plans to open a Congressional Investigation into Obama’s lack of response as soon as Monday.
