(Political Satire, Still Legal in USA) KENTUCKY– A man from Kentucky, about to lose his health care because the GOP is vowing to repeal Obamacare, said today that he was so relieved that stores said “Merry Christmas” this year.
“Everywhere I went, which was really only that big box store, since every other store in town went out of business, all the clerks said ‘Merry Christmas.’ That was a real comfort to me,” said Earl M. Grandaddy.
Out of work since 2013, and unable to get health insurance because of a pre-existing heart condition, Mr. Grandaddy receives a full subsidy because the State of Kentucky took Medicaid expansion as part of the Affordable Care Act, despite strong GOP pressure not to.
“Without Obamacare, Mr Grandaddy would most certainly be either bankrupt or dead, or maybe both, ” said Charles M. Pencil, C.P.A.
When asked if he wasn’t concerned that the GOP plans to immediately repeal his insurance and most likely severely gut the Medicaid that keeps him alive, Mr. Grandaddy smiled.
“That’s not what’s on my mind. Having clerks saying ‘Merry Christmas’ was just such a victory to me. It’s why I voted for Donald Trump, to make America Great Again, and here, he’s already won the War on Christmas.”
“Besides,” Mr. Grandaddy added, “Nobody would actually cut my insurance, would they? That would be crazy!”
